General Information
• Horace Baseball Club is a community-based non-profit youth baseball organization serving
players ages 6–12 in age divisions 7U through 12U.
• The focus is on player development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and having fun in a safe
environment.
• The club participates in the Red River Valley League (RRVL) alongside Fargo, West Fargo,
Moorhead, and surrounding communities.
• Two rec divisions are available: Intermediate (National) or Advanced (American)
• The division each team plays in will be determined by the coach
Registration
• Registration opened in January and will close as teams reach capacity for the 2026 Season.
Registration will typically open in November prior to the upcoming season.
• Players registering after the deadline may be placed on a waiting list depending on roster
availability.
• Online registration and payment is required at the time of registration to guarantee a spot.
• Coaches are allowed to form their own team. Please reach out to the Horace Baseball Club
for more information.
• Horace Baseball Club will make every effort to guarantee a spot for all registered
participants. However, each team must include 10-14 players. If there is a situation where
there are not the correct number of players, it will be communicated to parents early
enough to make alternative arrangements.
• The program is primarily intended for residents of Horace, however, we do accept
individuals from surrounding communities
• Financial assistance options may be available for families in need.
Age Divisions & Eligibility
• Horace Baseball follows Red River Valley League age divisions for players ages 6–12.
• Families may choose between the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth age chart or the Little League age
chart where permitted by RRVL rules.
• Players may be allowed to play up one age level in younger divisions, subject to league
guidelines and approval.
• Once players reach older age divisions, stricter age compliance is required.
Season Timing
• The season is scheduled to begin in late April dependent on weather and field conditions.
Usually there are at least two weeks of practice before the first game.
• RRVL games will start the week of May 18
• The regular season concludes in late July.
• Game schedules are finalized in April and shared with families soon after.
Games & Practices
• Most teams are scheduled to play approximately 20–22 regular season games.
• All games are scheduled on weekday (Monday – Thurs) evenings.
• Game Nights:
• 7U, 9U, and 10U: Monday & Wednesday
• 8U, 11U, and 12U: Tuesday & Thursday
• Games will be played throughout the FM area. Our goal is to host several home games in
Horace or nearby fields for each age division.
• Weekend tournaments can be scheduled by the coaches if desired by parents, but
participation is not mandatory.
• All age divisions will have at least one practice per week. Ages 10U and up may have one
additional practice per week at the discretion of the coach.
• Practices are typically scheduled for 90 minutes
• Practice schedules are coordinated by the Horace Baseball Club
• Practices for the 2026 season will be held at Horace Lions Field
Rules
• RRVL rules will be followed. Reference the rules for each specific age group at
https://www.fargoyouthbaseball.com
• Non-wood and laminated bats shall bear the USA Baseball logo signifying that the bat
meets USABat – USA Baseball’s Youth Bat Performance Standard.
• The bat’s diameter shall not exceed 2 5/8 inches.
Weather & Cancellations
• Weather-related cancellations are communicated via email and/or league communication
platforms.
• Announcements are made by 4 PM. After 4 PM, decisions will be made by the coaches or
umpires on site.
• If no cancellation notice is sent, games should be assumed to be played as scheduled.
• RRVL designates specific makeup dates for rainouts later in the season, if necessary
• Please do not contact league officials directly regarding game status on weather days.
Equipment & Uniforms
• Horace Baseball provides a team jersey and hat. New players also receive a batting helmet
which is theirs to keep and to be reused for sequential seasons.
• Players are responsible for providing their own bat (see bat requirements in “Rules”
section), glove, cleats, baseball pants, belt, socks, and other equipment they feel necessary.
• Coaches will provide a recommendation on the pants, belt, and sock color
• Catcher’s gear, balls, and other equipment are provided for team use.
• Each team will be sponsored by a local business and organization. This will also be the name
of the team.
Coaching & Volunteers
• Horace Baseball relies heavily on volunteer parent coaches. If interested, please sign up on
the Horace Baseball website.
• Coaches are provided with league rules and development guidelines.
• Background checks will be required for all registered coaches and volunteers.
• Families are encouraged to assist with team and league activities throughout the season.
Playing Time & Development
• RRVL rules emphasize equal playing time and skill development, especially at younger ages.
• Continuous batting orders are used in most age divisions.
• Coaches are encouraged to rotate players through different positions in both the infield and
outfield.
• Competitive focus increases gradually as players move into older divisions.
Refund Policy
• Registration fees are non-refundable once teams are formed.
• Refunds may be considered is certain circumstances such as family relocation or at the
discretion of Horace Baseball Club.
• Weather-related cancellations do not result in refunds.
Communication
• Primary communication is handled through email and league management platforms/apps.
• Coaches will share team-specific updates directly with families.
• Families are encouraged to check email regularly during the season.
Concerns & Sportsmanship
• All participants are expected to follow league sportsmanship standards.
• Concerns regarding coaches, players, parents, or officials should be addressed first with the
team coach when appropriate, then escalated to the Horace Baseball Club or league
leadership if needed.
